Cape Sounion in the afternoon
We will drive along the coastal road, past the wonderful beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni and Varkiza to the most southern point of Attica, Cape Sounion, where the white marble pillars of the Temple of Posseidon stand. On the way you have a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf and the little islands offshore. Apart form its historical importance Sounion offers the most breath taking views in the Attica region. After visiting the Temple of Posseidon, you have time to walk at leisure on the rocky promontory of Sounion. Late in the afternoon you will have the opportunity to enjoy the majestic sunset which paints the landscape and the ancient ruins with wonderful colours.
Delphi one day tour with lunch
We will drive through the fertile plain of Boeotia, crossing the towns of Thebes related with the tragedy of King Oedipus, Levadia and Arachova, famous for its colourful rugs and carpets (short stop). Arrival at Delphi, the centre of the Ancient world - the “Omphalos” (Navel) of the Earth - whose prestige extended far beyond the boundaries of the Hellenic world. On the slopes of Mount Parnassus, in a landscape of unparalleled beauty and majesty, lie the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios. We will visit the Treasury of the Athenians, the Temple of Apollo and the Museum which houses such masterpieces of ancient Greek sculpture as the bronze Charioteer and the famous athlete Aghias. Lunch will be served at a taverna in Delphi. We will return to Athens in the early evening.
Argolis one day tour with lunch
We will drive on to Mycenae, the Homeric city of the Atreides- the city “rich in gold” of the ancient poets. (we will visit the Lion´s Gate, the Cyclopean Walls, the Royal Tombs etc.). We will depart for the town of Nafplion through the fertile plain of Argolis, the picturesque town nestling at the foot of a cliff crowned by the mighty ramparts of the Palamidi Fortress. After lunch we leave for Epidaurus to visit the theatre (4th century B.C.) famous for its astonishing acoustics. Arrival in Athens is expected in the early evening.
Athens By Night
Your evening will start with a drive to Piraeus and its natural harbors, such as lively Zea with its busy yacht marina and tiny Mikrolimano , one of the most picturesque corners of Piraeus. Following the principal avenues and passing by the Temple of Olympian Zeus, National Garden, Parliament, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Catholic Cathedral, Academy, University, National Library, Old Parliament we arrive at Plaka.
Short pleasant walk through the old unique Athens city to one of the popular taverns for dinner with live bouzouki music andGreek folk dances. N.B. Drinks at the tavern are not included in the tour’s price.
Athens City Tour & ACROPOLIS MUSEUM
This tour gives you an opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. We shall depart for Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896 (short stop). Continue and pass by the Prime Minister's residence (ex Royal Palace) guarded by the Euzones in their colourful uniform. Proceed, passing by the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian's Arch, the Parliament and the memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library and the Constitution Square (Syntagma). On the Acropolis visit the Architectural Masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: The Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally "the harmony between material and spirit", the monument that "puts order in the mind", the Parthenon. Continue and visit the place where at last the statues found their home and admire the wonders of the classical era: The new Acropolis museum.
